HR Interview

HR interviews have always remained a mystery in the folklore of placements.Because there are no clear guidelines..no hard and fast rules..no clear references, no measures of success and most importantly no guarantee that anything will work.
HR Interview Demystified
HR Interview Demystified
Each company, each division and each HR would have different criteria to either select or reject a a candidate. So lets get down to the basics.
There are a lot of different sites out there which will tell you what are the usual questions in HR interview, what are the most useful answers to them etc. This article is NOT going to do the same. We are not here to tell you to what to say but rather help you to know how to say the answers.
Be confident :
This is the first quality that a HR would like to see in you. Be confident. Be sure of yourself. Walk in to the interview room as if you are Shahrukh khan giving an interview to a reporter. Believe in your mind that they are here to offer their job to you.. you are just there to remind them how awesome it would be for them to have you in their company. Answer clearly and do not fumble. If you are confident your body language will show it.
It doesn’t matter what the questions are and it mostly doesn’t matter what your answers are. All that matters is how you deliver those answers. In most of the HR interviews they are not testing your knowledge, they are testing your attitude and your outlook on life and how well you can adapt and handle different situations.
So don’t go in there and fumble and drag through the interview but rather shine and lead the interview like winner.
Just before you are entering the interview room ..think and believe you are the star of the show here..you are the man of the match..you are the host of the party and go in with that mindset.

10 Reasons to Celebrate Diwali

Why do we celebrate Diwali? It’s not just the festive mood in the air that makes you happy, or just that it's a good time to enjoy before the advent of winter. There are 10 mythical and historical reasons why Diwali is a great time to celebrate. And there are good reasons not just for Hindus but also for all others to celebrate this great Festival of Lights.

1.Goddess Lakshmi’s Birthday: The Goddess of wealth, Lakshmi incarnated on the new moon day (amaavasyaa) of the Kartik month during the churning of the ocean (samudra-manthan), hence the association of Diwali with Lakshmi.
2. Vishnu Rescued Lakshmi: On this very day (Diwali day), Lord Vishnu in his fifth incarnation as Vaman-avtaara rescued Lakshmi from the prison of King Bali and this is another reason of worshipping Ma Larkshmi on Diwali.

SUCCEED IN GROUP DISCUSSION

‎10 THINGS TO SUCCEED IN GROUP DISCUSSION
Following are some of the things which you must take care off to succeed in the GD.

READ VORACIOUSLY

Make a habit of reading voraciously on every subject. This will keep you ready for any topic for a discussion in GD Your knowledge is your most important weapon in a discussion.

INITIATE THE DISCUSSION

Most of us have a misconception that initiating the discussion would give you an advantage over others. It does give you an advantage but only if you know the subject well and have something relevant to start the discussion otherwise it is a disadvantage.

For e.g. When a group was given a subject “Is Capital punishment right?” some members of the group heard the word punishment and jumped at starting the discussion with out understanding the meaning of Capital Punishment. The evaluators kept hearing for 2 minutes after which they intervened and asked the group if they knew the meaning of Capital Punishment. Not to say, the members who initiated were quite looking at each other’s faces. That is when a quite member of the group got up and explained the meaning of the topic. From this incidence, you can easily tell who must have succeeded in the GD, the ones who initiated the discussion or the one who explained the topic and gave it a right direction.

They say, “Speaking just for the sake of speaking is noise”. So, don’t create noise in the GD rather make some useful and resourceful contributions to get noticed in the discussion.

SPEAK POLITELY AND PLEASANTLY

As you speak make sure that you do not speak at the top of your voice. You should be audible and clear. Remember that you are participating in a discussion which is different from a speech given out by the leaders in their rallies. Even if you disagree with the other’s point of view, disagree politely. Use phrases like, I would like to disagree a bit here, I am sorry but I think I have a slightly different point of view here.

Gandhi Jayanti

Gandhi Jayanti

Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Patit Pavan Sita Ram
Sita Ram Sita Ram, Bhaj pyare tu Sitaram
Ishwar Allah tero naam, Sab ko Sanmti de Bhagawan..........

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi, the apostle of peace and the Father of the Nation was born on 2nd October 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat.

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on the very day every year as the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of India.
In his autobiography "My experiments with Truth" Gandhi recalls that his childhood and teen age years were characterized by education in a local school, marriage to Kasturba at the age of 13 and an intrinsic love for ‘truth’ and ‘duty’.

Gandhi, as he was popularly called, proved that non-violence is the most effective instrument of social change. His teachings are promoted even today to avoid violence and find peaceful solutions to conflicts.

Through his sheer dedication and self-belief, Gandhi freed India from the British Raj (British Rule). He proved to the world that freedom can be achieved through the path of non-violence.

For Gandhi ‘Non-violence’ and 'Truth' were two inalienable virtues. He summed up the entire philosophy of his life as : "The only virtue I want to claim is truth and non-violence. I lay no claim to super human powers : I want none".

The United Nations General Assembly announced on 15th June, 2007 that October 2nd will be celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence.

Some of the famous quotes by Mahatma Gandhi have been listed below :
  • Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

  • Fear is not a disease of the body; fear kills the soul.

Gandhi Jayanti

Gandhi Jayanti  Father of the Nation
Gandhi Jayanti or Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti is observed every year as a national holiday to commemorate the birth of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (October 2, 1869 - January 30, 1948). His non-violence or satyagraha continues to influence political leaders and movements till date. The celebration and essence of Gandhi Jayanti is not restricted within India and also observed by the United Nations as the International Day of non-violence that aims to disseminate his philosophy, principle and believe in non-violence through proper education and public awareness.

Celebration of Gandhi Jayanti is also a moment to relive Mohandas Gandhi's life and contribution in India's Independence. Born in a small coastal town Porbandar in Gujarat, Gandhi married Kasturbai Makhanji at the age of 13. His childhood memories and experiences are vividly depicted by him in his autobiography My experiments with truth. Gandhi at the age of 18 went to England to study law and returned to India in 1915. After his homecoming, he led nationwide stir for achieving Sawaraj, abolition of social evils, empowering women rights and improving economic conditions of peasants and farmers. He further strengthened his movement against the British Raj and led Indians in protesting Dandi March Salt in 1930 that was later followed by the popular Quit India in 1942 calling British to leave India.

At Raj Ghat, New Delhi, and across India, people gather to observe Gandhi Jayanti in innovative ways that includes offering flowers on Gandhi's pictures, statues and singing his favourite devotional song Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram.

CHANGING MAC ADDRESS

CHANGING MAC ADDRESS OF THE COMPUTER

Hi folks...
MAC (Media Access Control) Address of Computer
It is a unique identifier assigned to network interfaces. MAC addresses are also known as hardware addresses or physical addresses. They uniquely identify an adapter on a LAN. Any packet sent to remote system on the network contains MAC address and IP address of your computer. MAC address is fixed and cannot be changed unless network card is replaced. Although we cannot change the MAC address of the network card adaptor, we can certainly change it in the operating system.

Here are the steps to change the MAC address on windows and linux
Changing MAC Address on Windows

1- You can use SMAC. SMAC is a MAC Address Changer (Spoofer) for Windows 7, XP, Server 2003, and VISTA systems, regardless of whether the manufactures allow this option or not.

SMAC is a powerful tool and intuitive Windows MAC Address Modifying Utility (MAC Address spoofing) which allows users to change MAC address for almost any Network Interface Cards (NIC) on the Windows VISTA, XP, 2003, and 2000 systems, regardless of whether the manufacturers allow this option or not.

SMAC does not change the hardware burned-in MAC addresses.  SMAC changes the "software based" MAC addresses, and the new MAC addresses you change will sustain from reboots.

SEARCH GOOGLE USING SPECIAL SYNTAX

SEARCH GOOGLE

Hi folks...
Google is clearly the best general-purpose search engine on the Web and Google goes far beyond a regular search engine. Give the tricks in this article a try. You’ll be amazed at how many different ways Google can improve your Internet searching. In addition to the basic AND, OR, and phrase searches, Google offers some rather extensive special syntax for narrowing your searches.

But most people don’t use google to its best advantage. Do you just plug in a keyword or two and hope for the best? That may be the quickest way to search, but with more than ten billion pages in Google’s index, it’s still a struggle to compare results to a manageable number. Google is an remarkably powerful tool that can ease and enhance your Internet exploration. Google’s search options go beyond simple keywords, the Web, and even its own programmers. Let’s look at some of Google’s lesser-known options.
Using special syntax you can tell Google that you want to restrict your searches to certain elements or characteristics of Web pages. Google has listed a complete list of its syntax elements at www.google.com/help/operators.html
So lets Discuss these special syntax elements:
Calculator:
The next time you need to do a quick calculation, instead of bringing up the Calculator applet, you can just type your expression in to Google.
Example:
48512 * 1.02

Word Definitions:
If you need to quickly look up the definition of a word or phrase, simply use the “define:” command.
Example:
define:internet

HOW TO PREPARE RESUME

HOW TO PREPARE RESUME
When we enter the job market, we are viewed as 'products'. If we are viewed as such, then our resume could be said to be the 'product brochure'. The product brochure would speak for the product in ways more than one. It could give an impressive array of information regarding the 'product', which could stimulate interest in the recruiting community.

A resume should be a reflection of what all you stand for, what all you are - as an individual as well as a prospect for recruitment. It should present a clear picture to the recruiter about you;describe you precisely in all aspects, and engage the attention of the recruiter.
Before you start your work on your resume, you should find out what the company is looking for in the prospect, and try to tailor your resume to match the requirements listed by the company.
To this end, you could take the help of your seniors in the college, elders at home, peers in the college, friends, search the Internet for information organisation, and placement agencies. These sources would go a long way in helping you script an excellent resume.

Please understand that to get to the final copy, you would need to prepare a few drafts. This would essentially help you fine-tune the information, which you would carry in the resume. The best way to prepare a resume is to 'get going' by noting all the possible points of information you would like to project in the resume.

Objective
The reason as to why you should prepare a resume would change according to the nature of the situation you are in. If you are a fresher (final year student / just out of college), then a resume does not serve the purpose of getting you a short-list for an interview. This is because you would be selected for the interview on the basis of the aptitude test. At the same time, it does not mean that the resume serves no purpose. In the case of a fresher, the recruiter checks your resume only after the candidates for the interview are short-listed. Now this entire issue of checking your resume would be dealt with only minutes before the interview.

While most of you are freshers, however, in case of a candidate with work experience, the primary objective of the resume would be to seek a short-list for the interview. In such case, your resume should hold the attention of the recruiter for long enough to get you a short-list for the interview. In this case, your resume should highlight the nature of the work experience as well as accomplishments in academic and work-related activity.

Basic guidelines

Use white-coloured executive bond paper for preparing a resume. Use only one side of the paper.

There is no hard and fast rule as to how a resume should be prepared and how it should look. If somebody asks you to not to write 'Curriculum Vitae' or 'Resume' at the top, then kindly ignore such advice. Also, it is not compulsory that a resume should begin in a standard format like where you begin with your name followed by address, contact number, e-mail id, etc. You may choose any format that puts out the best picture of your candidature for the job.

Do not mention your height, weight, gender, religion, caste and other other such odd details. Just remember that you are applying for a job and not for a bride / bridegroom contest!

Do not paste / staple your photograph on the resume unless the recruiter specifically asks for the same. If need be, use a latest photograph.

Please try to align the left as well the right side of the page. The resume should not appear in a haphazard alignment indicating an unfinished job.

Major sub-heads

The following are the major sub-heads under which you should carry the relevant information:

Objective
It is a largely accepted notion that you should start the main body of the resume with your objective(s). It is not mandatory to state an objective. The objective could change between companies as it would depend on the nature of the job you would apply for.

If you want to state your objective, then use simple words and short sentences. Avoid the use of high-sounding words like "determination / discipline / industrious", which are used more for the effect they create. Please remember that you will have to substantiate such words when questioned in the interview.

Education
Here, you should mention your educational qualifications in reverse chronological order i.e. starting with the latest (degree). Please make sure that you quote accurate percentages / absolute scores.

Other Academic-related activities
Under this head, you could write about project(s), mini-project(s), paper presentation, industrial visits, apprenticeship, etc. This area should highlight your skill set in the relevant field.

Achievements
If you have won any awards / prizes, citations / certificates of merit, then you should mention them. Please do not shy away from highlighting these important points as they reflect another facet of your personality.
